💰 Pricing & Access

Is this photo uncrop tool really free?

+
Yes, absolutely free. No hidden costs, no freemium tier, no premium features locked behind a paywall. Every single feature — all 4 background styles, all 4 Instagram formats, all adjustment sliders — is available for free to everyone. No credit card, no account, no sign-up of any kind.

Will there be a paid version or watermarks added in the future?

+
We are committed to keeping this tool free and watermark-free. We believe creators shouldn't have to pay just to resize a photo for Instagram. The tool is supported by non-intrusive advertising, not by charging users.

Do I need to create an account to use it?

+
No account is needed. Just open the website, upload your photo, and start editing. We don't collect email addresses or require you to log in with any social media account.
🔒 Privacy & Security

Are my photos uploaded to your server?

+
No. All image processing happens entirely in your browser using the HTML5 Canvas API and JavaScript. Your photos are never transmitted to any server. They stay on your device at all times. This means your private photos — family shots, travel photos, personal images — remain completely private.

Do you store or keep copies of my photos?

+
No. Since all processing is done in your browser, we have no technical ability to store your photos even if we wanted to. When you close the browser tab or refresh the page, all traces of your photo are gone.

Is it safe to use for sensitive or personal photos?

+
Yes. Because processing happens locally in your browser with no server communication, this tool is safe to use for any photos. There is no risk of your photos being leaked, sold, or accessed by third parties through our tool.
📁 File Formats & Quality

What image formats are supported?

+
We support:
  • JPG / JPEG — Standard camera and phone photos
  • PNG — Lossless images with or without transparency
  • WEBP — Modern web format
  • HEIC — Apple iPhone's default format (iOS 11+)
Most photos taken on any smartphone or camera will work perfectly.

Will uncropping reduce my image quality?

+
No. Your original photo maintains its full resolution and quality. The tool only adds a new background around your image — it never compresses, re-encodes, or downsizes the original content. The downloaded file is saved as a high-quality PNG or JPEG.

What format will the downloaded file be in?

+
The downloaded file is saved in the same format as your upload, at the highest quality setting. The filename will indicate the format and the Instagram format chosen (e.g., photo-square.jpg).

Is there a maximum file size?

+
There is no set file size limit. However, very large files (50MB+) may take a moment to process in the browser. We recommend using your original camera resolution for best results — typically 10-20MB is perfect.
📸 Instagram & Formats

What Instagram formats are available?

+
All four main Instagram formats:
  • Portrait (4:5) — 1080×1350px, ideal for feed posts
  • Square (1:1) — 1080×1080px, classic Instagram format
  • Landscape (1.91:1) — 1080×566px, wide photos and ads
  • Story/Reel (9:16) — 1080×1920px, full-screen vertical content

Can I use this for TikTok, Facebook, or other platforms?

+
Yes. The Story/Reel format (9:16) is also the standard for TikTok, YouTube Shorts, and Snapchat Stories. The Square format works well for Facebook and Twitter. The Landscape format is great for YouTube thumbnails and Twitter/X header images.

Which format gets the most engagement on Instagram?

+
Portrait (4:5) typically gets the most engagement on the feed because it takes up the most vertical screen space, making it harder to scroll past. However, for Stories and Reels, the full 9:16 vertical format is the standard. See our Best Practices guide for more tips.
📱 Device & Browser Support

Can I use this on my phone?

+
Yes. The tool is fully responsive and works on all modern smartphones. You can access it on iPhone Safari, Android Chrome, Samsung Internet, and other mobile browsers. The interface adapts automatically to smaller screen sizes.

Which browsers are supported?

+
The tool works in all modern browsers:
  • Chrome (desktop & Android)
  • Safari (desktop & iOS)
  • Firefox
  • Edge
  • Samsung Internet
We recommend using an up-to-date browser for the best experience.

Does it work offline?

+
Once the page is loaded, yes. Since all processing is done locally in your browser, you don't need an internet connection to process and download your photos. However, you'll need a connection to first load the page.
